silence

Countless of times it has been stated in the Quran, the word samii’an & baseeran, hearing & sight. To what certain extent have we really show gratitude to the Mighty one for just only those 2 most gracious blessings that He has bestowed upon us? A question that needs one to just sit & ponder for a moment or two.  Just imagine life without the ability to hear & see, how does that feel? Deaf & blind. Lost, darkness. Even if our ability to talk was to be taken away, I don’t think we’d dread as much as losing our hearing & sight. Frankly, many don’t have any problems with not talking, at all. Besides, there are 3 types of speeches ;

1)      Al-khayr : good speech
2)      Al-sharr ; bad/evil speech
3)      Al-laghaw : vain speech

Just as so being stated in a hadith by the Prophet (s.a.w) “Man kaana yu’minu billahi wal yaumil aakhiri fal yaqul khairan au lisyamut – Whoever believes in Allah (swt) & the Last Day should speak good or remain silent”

A very important note on protecting the tongue.

Many these days are busily chattering away not realizing that every word that’d came out from their mouth have been written down on the book. Some just talk and talk, making a whole lot of commotion, building up to the noise pollution, I reckon they could even hear a bomb dropping. Though yes that might be words of exaggeration in explaination but seriously, that’s how exactly things are. Imagine in a class of nearly 50 students in a space constraint classroom, most are talking to their friends so loudly while matter of fact, their friends are just right beside them.

I am mostly like a wallflower, always in the corner, sitting down quietly, minding my own stuffs, not bothering others. Being in such situation always make me think and ponder, and with that, senses just come back to me knocking real hard on my head. One should really try to appreciate silence. Honestly, I really wouldn’t mind just sitting in silence with a friend beside me ‘coz I know that her presence is all that I really need. I don’t need her talking so much to me; that’d be vain talks. Rather I love to keep quiet and just listen, and talk when really needed.

Appreciating silence is something special. Not all can appreciate it. They think that silence is just another sign of boredom but really, its not. I would want to think that sharing about knowledge is way cooler than just having talks that are pointless & vain. Exchanging knowledge is very important. And now, that is one of the proofs that you have good friends surrounding you.

Do make a cup of tea, sit by the window & start pondering about all these.
Appreciate silence, for once ;)
